I have been running my economics and statistics consulting practice, B. Erard & Associates, LLC, in the Washington, DC metro area for the past 20 years. My practice specializes in advanced analytics based on novel statistical models and data mining solutions. I have consulted on a broad range of tax policy and tax administration issues with federal and sub-national tax administrations in the U.S., Canada, and abroad. In addition, I have worked on a variety of projects for private businesses and other government agencies.

Prior to becoming a full-time consultant, I spent a decade in academia, first as an Assistant Professor of Economics at the University of Toronto, then as an Associate Professor at Carleton University (where I served as the Director of the Joint Economics Ph.D. Program with the University of Ottawa). I also spent a year as a Visiting Fellow at the University of Michigan Office of Tax Policy Research.

I have published extensively in academic journals and scholarly conference proceedings, and I often team up with top academics from renowned universities on larger consulting projects.
